HOW TO PREVENT TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

Tooth sensitivity is usually a warning signal your brain uses to let you know that something is gone wrong with your tooth’s defence- THE ENAMEL.

This could be caused by a variety of factors

Tooth sensitivity can be very discomforting and unbearable, affecting the quality of your life.  Remember, the mouth is the gateway to your body. If you cannot eat or drink food comfortably, it would not be long before your general health begins to suffer.

Good oral hygiene is undoubtedly your best defence against most of the oral health problems, including tooth sensitivity. A good oral routine helps reduce the accumulation of dental plaque from around the teeth and gums.

If left unattended, dental plaque can harden to become “Dental CALCULUS (not mathematics Calculus- lol) which builds up from underneath the gums and makes your gums recede around the teeth.

This is known as Periodontitis “gum disease” and can lead to gingival recession- exposing the roots of your teeth which are not covered by enamel, in turn, leaving them more susceptible to stimulation and sensitivity.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day using a medium-bristled toothbrush and fluoride-containing toothpaste for at least two minutes. Have you watched our educative video on brushing the right way?

Tooth sensitivity can also be an early indicator of tooth decay or a fracture/ injury to the tooth – indicating that the dentine is exposed somewhere, thereby serving as a warning sign for dental check up.
